Connect TrendsConnector to Zed as a context server. The agent panel answers with live trend data.

Zed calls MCP servers context servers and registers them in settings.json. One entry with the TrendsConnector URL and your key adds trend tools to the agent panel. Every series comes back on a shared 0 to 100 index, so one answer can compare Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon and the rest without a per platform account, scraper or API key.

Zed settings are user level. The key in this file is readable by anything with your profile access, so treat the file accordingly.

TrendsConnector returns trend data: history, growth and live boards on a normalized scale. It is not a scraper, and it does not return raw posts, videos, listings or personal data. Why does Zed call them context servers?

That is Zed's name for MCP servers. The registration and the protocol are the same as elsewhere.

Where do answers show up?

In the agent panel, next to the thread it is helping with, with the tool calls visible.

Is TrendsConnector free in Zed?

Yes, to start. The Free plan includes 100 requests a month, every data source, and both MCP and API access, with no credit card. Paid plans (Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $199 a month) raise the request limit and history depth. Annual billing saves 20 percent.

Which sources can I query once this is connected?

Every source on the same key: Google Trends, Google Shopping, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, Wikipedia, news, app, Steam, npm, PyPI, X, Spotify, GitHub, IMDb, Open Library, Substack and web traffic series, plus the live ranked boards. Ask for up to five years of weekly history or growth over windows such as 3M, 12M and YTD.

Do I need a separate key for each client?

No. One TrendsConnector key works in every client and as a Bearer token for direct REST calls. Register it in each client you use.
