AI bot on X
TrendsConnector for Grok Bot
The Grok AI bot you tag on X cannot load your connectors. What it answers natively, where its trend replies stop, and how to get measured trend data instead.
Tagging @grok in a post puts a question to Grok's built in view of X. That bot is fast and handy for what is being said right now. It does not load your personal connectors, it has no access to your TrendsConnector key, and its trend answers come from posts rather than a measured series. This page is the honest map: what the bot does natively, and the two minute route to real numbers. Every series comes back on a shared 0 to 100 index, so one answer can compare Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon and the rest without a per platform account, scraper or API key.
Connect in 3 steps
- For a quick pulse check, tag @grok in a post and ask what is being said about your topic on X. Treat the reply as commentary, not data.
- For measured data, open Grok on grok.com or in the app, where your connectors live. The Grok page on this site walks through adding TrendsConnector there.
- Ask the same question in that conversation. The connector returns weekly history, growth over named windows, and ranked boards on a 0 to 100 scale, which you can quote, store, or screenshot back into your thread.

What you can pull
History and growth return weekly points on a 0 to 100 index, with absolute volume where the source provides it. Growth can compare several windows and several sources in one call. Live boards return the current ranked list with no keyword at all. Popular starting points:
Good to know
There is no connector slot, settings page, or key field inside the X bot surface. Any page or tool claiming to plug a custom connector into @grok replies is describing something X does not offer. Connectors attach to your Grok account in the app and on the web, not to bot mentions in the timeline.
TrendsConnector returns trend data: history, growth and live boards on a normalized scale. It is not a scraper, and it does not return raw posts, videos, listings or personal data. The full client setup reference, including copy paste config for every supported client, is in the docs connect guide.

Questions
Why can the Grok bot not use my TrendsConnector key?
Bot replies on X run as a public surface with Grok's own built in sources. Personal connectors, keys and sign ins belong to your Grok account in the app and on grok.com. The two surfaces share a model name, not your configuration.
What is the bot actually good for on trends?
Speed and wording. It summarises what people on X are saying about a topic right now, in the tone of the timeline. It does not return dated points, growth percents over named windows, or ranked boards you can reuse in a report.
Can I get X trend data at all then?
Yes, two ways. The bot gives you the conversation. TrendsConnector gives you the measurement: X attention as a series, comparable with Google, TikTok and Amazon on one scale, through the Grok app connector or the REST API.
Is TrendsConnector free in Grok Bot?
Yes, to start. The Free plan includes 100 requests a month, every data source, and both MCP and API access, with no credit card. Paid plans (Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $199 a month) raise the request limit and history depth. Annual billing saves 20 percent.
Which sources can I query once this is connected?
Every source on the same key: Google Trends, Google Shopping, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, Wikipedia, news, app, Steam, npm, PyPI, X, Spotify, GitHub, IMDb, Open Library, Substack and web traffic series, plus the live ranked boards. Ask for up to five years of weekly history or growth over windows such as 3M, 12M and YTD.
Do I need a separate key for each client?
No. One TrendsConnector key works in every client and as a Bearer token for direct REST calls. Register it in each client you use.
