TrendsConnector for Cursor
Connect TrendsConnector to Cursor with one mcp.json block. Check keyword growth and live boards without leaving the editor.
Cursor reads MCP servers from mcp.json. One block with the server URL and your key gives the editor trend history, growth and live boards next to the code. Every series comes back on a shared 0 to 100 index, so one answer can compare Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon and the rest without a per platform account, scraper or API key.
Connect in 3 steps
- Get a free TrendsConnector API key. 100 requests a month, no credit card.
- Add the block below in Cursor MCP settings, or merge it into the mcp.json Cursor already reads.
- Restart Cursor and ask in chat. The three trend tools appear in the tool list.

What you can pull
History and growth return weekly points on a 0 to 100 index, with absolute volume where the source provides it. Growth can compare several windows and several sources in one call. Live boards return the current ranked list with no keyword at all. Popular starting points:
Good to know
Keep the header value as one string. Extra quotes inside it read as part of the token and produce a 401.
TrendsConnector returns trend data: history, growth and live boards on a normalized scale. It is not a scraper, and it does not return raw posts, videos, listings or personal data. The full client setup reference, including copy paste config for every supported client, is in the docs connect guide.

Questions
Project file or user file?
A project level mcp.json scopes the tools to one repo. A user level file makes them available in every window.
Is anything installed locally?
No. The server is hosted. The config holds only a URL and a header.
Is TrendsConnector free in Cursor?
Yes, to start. The Free plan includes 100 requests a month, every data source, and both MCP and API access, with no credit card. Paid plans (Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $199 a month) raise the request limit and history depth. Annual billing saves 20 percent.
Which sources can I query once this is connected?
Every source on the same key: Google Trends, Google Shopping, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, Wikipedia, news, app, Steam, npm, PyPI, X, Spotify, GitHub, IMDb, Open Library, Substack and web traffic series, plus the live ranked boards. Ask for up to five years of weekly history or growth over windows such as 3M, 12M and YTD.
Do I need a separate key for each client?
No. One TrendsConnector key works in every client and as a Bearer token for direct REST calls. Register it in each client you use.
