CLI agent
TrendsConnector for Amazon Q
Connect TrendsConnector to Amazon Q Developer through its MCP config. Trend data in AWS terminal workflows.
Amazon Q Developer accepts MCP servers in its agent config. One entry with the TrendsConnector URL and your key adds trend history, growth and live boards to Q sessions. Every series comes back on a shared 0 to 100 index, so one answer can compare Google, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon and the rest without a per platform account, scraper or API key.
Connect in 3 steps
- Get a free TrendsConnector API key. 100 requests a month, no credit card.
- Add the entry below to the mcpServers section of your Amazon Q agent config.
- Start a session and ask a trend question.

Using TrendsConnector, which developer tools are growing fastest this quarter?
What you can pull
History and growth return weekly points on a 0 to 100 index, with absolute volume where the source provides it. Growth can compare several windows and several sources in one call. Live boards return the current ranked list with no keyword at all. Popular starting points:
Good to know
Config file location differs between the Amazon Q CLI and IDE plugins. The server URL and Bearer header are the same in both.
TrendsConnector returns trend data: history, growth and live boards on a normalized scale. It is not a scraper, and it does not return raw posts, videos, listings or personal data. The full client setup reference, including copy paste config for every supported client, is in the docs connect guide.

Questions
Does this need an AWS account relationship with TrendsConnector?
No. Q calls the hosted endpoint directly with your key. AWS hosts the client, not the data.
Can Q compare sources?
Yes. One growth call takes several sources on the shared 0 to 100 scale.
Is TrendsConnector free in Amazon Q?
Yes, to start. The Free plan includes 100 requests a month, every data source, and both MCP and API access, with no credit card. Paid plans (Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $199 a month) raise the request limit and history depth. Annual billing saves 20 percent.
Which sources can I query once this is connected?
Every source on the same key: Google Trends, Google Shopping, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, Wikipedia, news, app, Steam, npm, PyPI, X, Spotify, GitHub, IMDb, Open Library, Substack and web traffic series, plus the live ranked boards. Ask for up to five years of weekly history or growth over windows such as 3M, 12M and YTD.
Do I need a separate key for each client?
No. One TrendsConnector key works in every client and as a Bearer token for direct REST calls. Register it in each client you use.
